Hot foiling is one of the only ways to print bright, metallic looking embellishments. Its solvent free.
The pigment is on a carrier strip and heat releases this on to your substrate.
It’s not possible to manufacture a foil that sticks to all substrates. Different substrates require different glues – this is where grades come in. When selecting a grade of foil there are various factors you should consider, the material that is being foiled, the machine you are using and the design you are printing. A fine detail image can require a different foil to a solid image.
Please view our grades page for a guide to the foils we sell and operating conditions. The foils listed are in grades stated, we can’t provide in a different grade.
Ideally yes! Hot foiling is the process of heat, pressure and dwell.
Whilst we have done our best to show the colours accurately, how you are viewing them, monitor set-up, phone settings etc will change the appearance of colours. If colour is crucial, we strongly recommend ordering a sample first.
As part of its zero foil to landfill, Foilco Ltd has introduced the facility for customers to return unused foil material either indirectly or directly to the processing operations and avoid 100% landfill.
Substrate colour and material will affect the stamped colour. Darker materials may look different when stamped compared to lighter materials. Metallic foils are more opaque than pigment foils.
Colours will also look different under different lighting conditions.
